Since the Deutschland Tour was passing through Freiburg in 2022, I took the chance to head out and get some shots of the race. It was my first time shooting a bike race, and it’s tough.. you don’t have a lot of chances to catch them.
The week before the race, I cycled up Schauinsland, a 1200m peak just outside of Freiburg - where the riders would have to climb at the end of the race. I was looking for the best spot to stand in order to get my best photo opportunity.
It started off as a beautiful day but in the afternoon the rain came down on the mountain where I had a couple of hours to wait for the riders to come by. But it was worth the wait, I’m super happy with the shots I got of the Lotto Soudal rider number 76: Harm Vanhoucke.
